T.V. Obsession: Blair Waldorf for W Magazine

If you saw last week's episode of Gossip Girl, you would know that every character on that show has officially hooked up with each other the moment that Dan Humphrey and Blair Waldorf locked lips on the "Empire of the Son" episode of Season 4. That only really leaves the Serena Van Der Woodsen and Chuck Bass combination. But wait a second, isn't Chuck her stepbrother? Well, that didn't stop her from dating Dan, now did it? [You kind of have to be an ardent Gossip Girl fan to understand how these relationships came to be.] All politics and controversies aside, I'm still weirdly bummed that the show would not be resuming until April 18 [*sigh.] Because despite of the questionable couple pairings that has been going on, the only thing that has been keeping my loyalty to this show is the fashion. Oh, God Save the Fashion.

When the costume designer of the show, Eric Daman, began dressing the characters in Season 4 when it first debuted with Blair and Serena in Paris, he said that he tried to channel Kate Moss's effortlessly chic look for Serena while focusing on Audrey Hepburn's classic and lady-like style for Blair. And I love that! Audrey Hepburn is the perfect inspiration for Blair Waldorf, except for the fact that Blair is probably more manipulative and a schemer than Audrey ever was. I also love the fact that Blair's wardrobe this season shows how much she has grown since her headband wearing days in Constance. And when she landed that internship for W Magazine, I knew that the traces of Queen B's high school fashion has come to an end. From the crisp and tailored blazers and pencil skirts and dresses to the patent leather Prada handbag, she looked so chic in her corporate attire. I loved how she integrated and wore different layers with opaque and patterned tights with her heels. She wore heels and never flats! But then again five inch heels is the dress code when you work for a fashion publication. Come check out Blair's ensembles for her short-lived days in W Magazine.

Love, KB
